Default 89 yj frame

I had my 89 YJ inspected and it passed. I insured it and started the build process only to find out after the frame was rusted. Should a person look at reinforcing the frame or finding a used one in better shape? I can do the work myself but I am new at this jeep thang.

Thanks

I found a shop that looking at it tomorrow. They said they have experience with the repair. We will see. My buddy said to log on here and ask if someone had a frame leaning up against the wall :) Have you had a similar problem? Do you know if the quadratec parts are an acceptable repair?

Thanks

Shop hrly rate will kill you. But yj frame rot is really common can be fixed if caught in time. Mine had a small spot started but got to it ( frame was full of dirt )

Thanks for the feedback. Do you know what the min max offset is for rims if I want to go to a 30x9.50R15LT

I had the same situation. I bought my 89 knowing that the frame was rough but upon further inspection it was totally rotted. I wish they had those replacement parts three years ago!! Long story short, A good patch will take much less time and money than a frame up resto.
