Default Winter Tires?

I have a stock 2003 Jeep TJ with the 15" rims. Currently 225x75x15's on it...and they are bald! Here's where I am stuck. I plan on raising the jeep 2.5-3” in the spring and putting a decent set of 31’s on her. I want the winter tires I buy to last me after I raise the Jeep. What I am leaning towards is a set of 225x75x15 winter tires…will this setup work/look half normal with lift in the future? I have herd that you don’t want to put huge tires on in the winter as they don’t perform as well. Speedy responses would be much appreciated as I plan on buying tires tomorrow (black Friday in the US means prices will be great!). Thanks everyone!

id suggest buying used winter tires as they'll be cheap, and then buying new and fitting them to your jeep once you have a lift...

and saving money now puts that much more money towards having that lift money!

There isn't a lot of difference between a 29" and a 31" tire so I wouldn't be worried about how it looks.
I've got 4.5" of lift on my WJ and in the winter my tires are still the stock 235/65R17's.

I wouldn't buy 225 size tires even for winter.
Stepping up at least one size now will help make it look less dorky while it's still stock.
Any kind of lift and 225's will not look nice.
