Re: undercoating a jeep
I'v used crown on the body , in the doors on the firewall up under the 1/4ers. 3M Rust fighter inside the frame , it gets kinda taky and stays in place longer than oil. This is just what I do , others might have better ideas.

I did the full 20l can of rubberised undercoating, sprayed the inside of the frame with chainsaw oil then filled all the frame holes with spray in insulation. I used roofing membrane on the floors and front fenders as well.

Re: undercoating a jeep
Just bought a new JGC Diesel and have not driven it in the rain yet. I was going to buy the protection package at Londonderry Jeep Dodge for $1300.00 but the salesman told me 4 hours and it would ALL be done. I said to myself $1300.00 for 4 hours work.??? I am looking around at specialty shops Ming Shine, Ziebart etc etc but I am questioning why to myself. I also own a '94 JGC and it is still going strong with no rust only oxidation on paint. Having said all this I still think it is all a good idea as will probably be the last vehicle I buy. So I will look after it.

Personally I'm not impressed with Londonderry. Took my Jeep there for some emergency TLC and they "checked it out". Would of cost me 3500.00 for a 100.00 part that they didn't even check.

Hi Keya,
The BEST way to keep your ride rust free is to move to New Mexico (I think), but anything that forms a barrier to that nasty salt solution (the stuff they put on the roads to keep those NON Jeep owners from ending up in the ditches) will help.
When my dear wife purchased a new vehicle (non Jeep) in 1991, I had a very interesting conversation with a salesperson. He admitted that the dealership "rustproofing" package that was listed for $300 only cost the dealership $50-all in, materials and labour. Got it for $60.
Name brands and advertising hype is just that. Keep your ride clean (upside and downside (depending on how you drive), keep it oiled (whatever brand and method of application you prefer) and she should last a good long time.
Keep in mind, if you DO go offroad (even non-paved roads) , your frame channels will accumulate solid material which will hold moisture, when combined with that nasty salty solution, and allow pockets of rust to form. Spray 'em out before re-application of your oils.
