Replacement zipper for rear window
Hiya - thanks for all who responded to my earlier post...
I have since instaleld the soft top and found that the rear window zip is busted and there is a small tear in the canvas on the drivers side - that leaks just a bit.....- has anyone else out there had a similar issue - and how did you resolve ?
Thx, Meg

Re: Replacement zipper for rear window
I haven't had the problem yet but might suggest u chkg the yellow pages or goggle search a tarp company, or try phoning a trucking company that has rag top trailers (may sound funny) but these are the guys that get tears in their equipment and for sure repair them or have them repaired by someone. Ask or drop down. The dealerships might help but might try to sell u a new one. The zipper (opens part way when u zip it) if so try putting some bar soap on the zipper and try to zip it again. If its got pieces missing n the zipper try again the guys u receive reply from at the trucking company. Sorry I cannot be more to the point here but I only had problems with the zipper opening and I re fed it into its place.

Re: Replacement zipper for rear window
My rear window zipper have some problems as well this past summer. The zipper pulled away from the main canvas in the corner. It made it very challenging for trying to put up the rear screen after a nice sunny day of driving. This just reminded me about getting it fixed for the spring. I would suggest going to a place that repairs canvas for boat tops/etc. This kind of place is use to repairing zippers and rips in material that is always going up and down. Not sure what the cost would be tho... :s

Even a place like Campers Village, MEC, sells 'Teeth' to fix your zipper. A pair of pliers and your rockin!! Some even have Tent repair in store and would fix your Top. You would just have to remove the top from the frame in order for them to do the work. Not hard, just some screws and velcro!!
I would recommend against going to the Stealership, they would gouge you for a new top ~ I was quoted 1500$ for one here in Alberta ~~ ya no thanks !!
