NEED HELP! : New 01' Jeep owner!
Hey guys, I really need some good advice on a few issues I have on a 01' Jeep 4cyl 5speed, with 140km. The only issues I could really find was the engine was putting off a lot of heat! (maybe because today felt like 40+°C) but it still seemed a little abnormal; which was also felt where my feet were while I was driving the Jeep (fan/ac was off.)
What also was bugging me was a sort of ticking noise while in first gear, and it stopped at around under 2.5rpm. [should I be worried? a.) abnormal heat b.) ticking noise]
AND
It has a soft-top on top of half doors that you can easily pull off. The issue is that on the driver side, both zippers needs to be attached to other side of teeth. Can you guys please recommend somewhere I can get it done ASAP, it'll rain on Friday and need it done as quickly as possible! (hopefully somewhere in the GTA Toronto, maybe Scarborough?
Thanks!

As long as the temp gauge is in the normal range you should be ok, the catalytic converter is under the floor and there's not usually much insulation on a tj.
Regarding the ticking noise, there's a lot of machinery moving around under there, check the drive-shaft joints for looseness.
Soft top, if you can find a shoe repair guy in your area they will sometimes do work like that. Another option is is someone that does furniture upholstery. The yellow pages for your area would be a good place to start.
Good luck and please post your progress, it might help someone else.

Re: NEED HELP! : New 01' Jeep owner!
Thanks for the pointing me out in the right direction! I will definitely check out the local shoe repair or furniture upholsterer.
concerning internals, im going to get it checked out at a specialist. I found a place called 'Just Jeeps' Just Jeeps located in Toronto. Couldn't really find any reviews on the place, just curious if anyone here has been there in relations to price/service/experience
Cheers and thanks again!

Update On Driver Upper Window: Zipper Issue
Found a guy (Michael Gerol at 550 Coronation Dr. Unit 16) who owns a small shop off Lawrence Ave East, called 'Canvas Man' who does boat tops, covers, seats, etc.
Really friendly and helpful. Though his schedule was a little tight and booked me in for next week, he did a quick fix on it for free, he added new velcro just to keep the weather out and the plastic glass up.
but a little iffy on the quote he gave me. $120 which seems like a lot of money to his solution of stitching a new strip of teeth and zippers to the existing ones because the plastic window shrunk 3/4 of an inch.
anyone else find this a little expensive?

Maybe I'm a little cheap or skeptical, but I've had no knowledge in the trade let alone service prices! but hey if all you guys think its all good, I'm definitely going to drop in next week.
Thanks for the input!
I'll keep you posted and let you know how it goes with 'canvas man' next week.
Cheers!
