Lift/ tire Combos?
Im planning on getting a Jeep TJ in the next little while. What are some lift and tire size combos you guys are running. This Jeep will be used 95% of the time on the road, but I would like to build it capable enough to hit the trails whenever I wanted. Im thinking 35's mainly because I think they look the best, so what size lift will I need to fit them? Thanks a lot.

Re: Lift/ tire Combos?
What year is your tj? Its different strokes for different folks. I have a 03 tj sport with a Superlift 4" suspension lift running 33x12.5r15 maxxis mud tires.I cud put 35" on without any rubbing but there alot heavier. I do highway and trails There are alot of other brand lifts the main thing is what ur getting in the kit so u don't end up having to buy alot of parts that a missing in it. Don't do a body lift. You can read up on other posts, thread in the site on what people think and what they have on there jeeps. Suggest u post the yr to ur jeep in ur profile so those repling can give u better assistance.

Re: Lift/ tire Combos?
The thing is I dont currently own a Jeep. Im looking at getting one fairly soon. It will be between a 1997- 2002, anything newer is getting out of my price range. Reason im asking questions now is so I know what kind of $ I wil be looking at. The more threads I read the more I realize 35's probably arent necessary. I dont want to get into upgraded axles and that sort of thing. What are some quality lift kits available? I've heard Skyjacker arent all that great, heard good things about Rock Krawler and Rough Country? Will a $1000 lift kit excluding labour get me a good reliable lift?

Re: Lift/ tire Combos?
If you can afford it get a rubicon 03 or 04 as they have the 5 speed tranny Dana 44's front and rear air lockers 4:1 transfer case bla bla bla.. as for the lift make sure what ever kit u decide on has at least adjustable upper rear control arms. that way you can dial out any drive line vibes you will probable get....

Re: Lift/ tire Combos?
I run a 2 inch BDS coil/shock/quick disco set up, with 31x10.5 bfg at(s). No drive line vibes, not a big combo, but more capable than some of the big guys would like to admit.....don't get sucked into geting more than you need, the more you do the less streetable your rig will be.......lots of ideas on the net, just keep looking and asking for advise....ask almost any jeeper, most are reading and willing to talk jeep any time ;)

Re: Lift/ tire Combos?
You can buy really cheap lifts or spend alot of money. If you are doing 95% on road, then ride quality should not be changed, maybe just a good winch and decent tires are all you need. Stock jeeps will go crazy places.

Re: Lift/ tire Combos?
2" spacer lift and 31" tires will get you a lot of places you don't think you would be able to. And if you haven't wheeled very much it is the best way to learn about tire placement and improve you off road driving skill. IMHO.
