Daily Driver Advice
Greatings, we are a one JK family right now, doing my homework to replace my car for a TJ. It has to function as a daily driver, I do 120K's round trip in GTA traffic. (Work gets in the way of everything)
I'd appreciate any feed back (advice) on comfort level of the TJ running as a Daily Driver. But, want to wheel when time permits....average trails, no rock crawling or anything extream.
My sense is best way to go is TJ Sahara, stock tire size, no lift.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Daily Driver Advice
I like our '06 for a DD.
BUT in the city, the manual 6 speed would be too much work. You have to shift a lot unless you are skipping gears, which isn't unreasonable.
I have 30X9.50's on mine and everything is stock.
Have you thought about the fuel economy?? Ours isn't great for a commuter.
4.0L =
Last perfect commuter I had was an '05 Vibe. And a 78 3/4 ton chev on the side for wheeling.

Thanks JETMERRITT.
Yes, I've studdied the MPG until my head hurts. Of all the reading I've done on the subject, it's 18 to 20MPG for the 4.0L. Whats also intresting ive read is the 4 banger is not much better, and you can't go wrong with the I6, rock solid.
Yet when you look at the classifieds, any time you see a nice stock TJ with the 2.5L and a standard transmission, some were in the add you will see 'good on gas'.
Could be buddy just trying to off-load, or, as a DD, no lift, stock tires and gearing.....perhaspe this is the way to go? Again not looking to build up, just want to drive a Jeep every friggin day, not just now and again.....A compromise perhaspe?
Thanks

Re: Daily Driver Advice
I use my 2004 TJ as a daily driver, gas mileage is probably similar to my old 1974 Chev K1500 4x4 350cid Truck i used to own. Posted at 18 or 20mpg? nah, not even close. Mileage is terrible, in city and on highway. BUT, the fun factor trumps bad fuel economy. If you drive a TJ, you're going to pay at the pump, but you'll have a great time getting from A to B. I still recommend a TJ. For long trips i'm now renting cars for the gas mileage. With the rental fee and gas, it's waaaay cheaper than gasing up a TJ in each town you go though. Food for thought.
