Which is which?

Re: Which is which?
exactly what it sounds like .A short arm lift has control arms close to stock length and use the original frame mounts.A long arm kit has arms longer than stock to allow lots of wheel travel.Factory frame mounts will need to be cut off and new mounts are located farther down the frame, welding is usually required for long arm kits. There is a lot more involved than short arm kits, more pieces to put on thats why they are more money but are the best choice for off road.Be honest with your self about how you use your jeep, any thing you do to help off road performance will hurt on road handling. The price difference between short and long arm kits can be enough to buy a locker for one of your diffs

Well Im generally doing just mudding and some trails to get to the mud, some flexing not much though and I noticed the long arm kits are more expensive than the short ones, would you consider what I am doing to be better to get the long arm or short arm. The jeep will also be my daily driver.

I'd have to say stick with the short arm kit, they are a lot cheaper and unless you plan on doing any rockcrawling they'll suit your needs better. Why waste the coin on something you don't really need, get a good winch or locker instead.

People seem to think that the only thing long arms are good for is articulation... If you're using this as your DD and you're going with a 4"+ lift, go with the long arms. They keep the suspension geometry closer to the stock handling with a lift than short arms.
Your suspension travels in an arc. With the short arms, you'll have a tighter arc which will make your wheels travel forward as well as up which makes for an uncomfortable ride. Long arms lessen the angle and give you a larger arc for the suspension travel which allows the wheels to travel in more of the up and down motion the way they where intended. That's about as simple as I can make it.
It's worth the extra dollars man not to mention better manners on the road and safer.
