$600-$900 depending what is being done. $600 if you just replace the
pressure plate and throw-out bearing. After that the price climbs,
master/slave replacement, fork replacement, replace/resurface the flywheel.

$500 to $800 at an independent shop, $1200 at the dealer. Actual
labor time is around 5 hours. Besure to have a new throwout
bearing installed, trueing the flywheel is a good option.

The next logical step is to find out what tools and equipment you will need
to do this as a shade tree mechanic and invite your favorite one over your
house. This would not tie up their garage and you can learn as you go.
