Well my Bronco has 33"s on a worst 3.00 ratio and it is a little
dirtier at the slow speed, but no where near failing:

Re: UPDATE: Fuel injection conv, can't pass smog. The final solution.
Here in Canada, they go by rpm and use rollers, not a loaded dyno. A
dyno is for testing HP, the emissions maching is just rollers.
I figure the larger tire is creating more load than your engine can take
and stay clean. That implies a tired engine to me.
On the last smog I passed with my 33" muds on and I have 3.31 gears. I
got 15 ppm HC and 0.16 CO.

Hmmmm..... I recently passed smog with a 4.2L, MPI kit with 33x10.50 tires and a bad oil ring on one cylinder, stock gears.
2 years earlier I passed with the same tires and a carter carb (although be it just barely), stock gears.

It was the tires/wheels setup. I am running 33's on 15's. The smog dyno can't compensate for that setup. So we put on stock sized tires/wheels and she pass with flying colors. So what do you think of that? Pass the word around. Thanks and good luck.

Re: UPDATE: Fuel injection conv, can't pass smog. The final solution.
A friend in Denver has a 93YJ w/35s. They refused to even put it on the dyno, he had to borrow some stock wheels & tires, then run it back over there and it passed. He has an intake tube conversion and they started to give him a dose of BS over it, at which point he got pissed and they let it go. (Nice to live where such Nazism is not practised.)
