Tried to make my jeep swim today...
Hey everybody....
04 TJ...tried to make it swim today....went through a puddle that wasnt as
shallow as i thought it was. Long story short, got stuck with the front
passenger side listing forward and down. No water got in through the air
intake though. Front Diff vent was clear too...however, on an automatic
tranny, where is the vent line installed? How would one check if water is
got in the tranny? Whats the normal consistency of ATF+4 tranny fluid? Right
now its pink & clear, kind of got the consistency of cooking spray...is that
normal? Any advice on how to give this girl the once over to make surte the
tranny doesnt blow up down the line would help..

When water gets into ATF-III fluid it turns milky white. Not sure
what +4 will do but what you describe as pink&clear sounds normal.
I'd still keep an eye on it for the next few days.

Re: Tried to make my jeep swim today...
Jeep 'forgot' to ever put a proper high water vent on the tranny....
If the fluid gets any water, it will go milky.
I don't know where your vent buttons are, but I think one is inside the
bell housing where you cannot get at it.
