I have problems believing much over 10-11 years old, judging
from the vocabulary, grammar, writing skills, and general
personality. Not a particularly bright 10 year old at that.

That has *got* to be the most miserable driving conditions I've
ever ran into. Good old 20 below in Montana and 2 feet of snow
really isn't that bad. First time in Iowa I hit that freezing
ice pellets, thought I was gonna die before I got home. Even
while driving on the highway, that crap froze the shifter
mechanism in place on a Porsche yet...in 5th.

It's worse when the fenderbergs lock the front wheels in place and
you realize turning isn't going to happen. When that weather comes
around I use an old racing trick and lightly spray the wheel well
with ATF fluid. Yea.. not too good for the environment, maybe PAM
or some such would work. (side note) Be careful with painted and plastic
bits this trick was done on fiberglass racing bodies to keep the dirt
track from sticking and weighting the car down and to make cleanup
easier between races. We have some seriously sticky muck here. :(

Not being able to turn was the last straw for my Dad, and he moved
his new wife from Iowa to start building airplanes in sunny California.

LOL!

Man having to get out and take an axe or tire iron to the wheel well is
a riot isn't it.

Or being frozen solid to the driveway...

Mike

You could do worse. I parked a '66 SS427, bored to 466 with
posi rear on the dirt just before a freeze. It is somewhat
humbling to discover that even with that monstrous torque
and a clutch that the brakes cannot stop even at idle is
not able to break loose from having all 4 wheels frozen no
deeper than a coupla inches in midwest mud. Had to jack
the thing up to break the freeze before it would move
1 inch.
