New Commander is UGLY
I'm shopping to replace my ancient XJ. The liberty doesn't cut it. The GC
rear cargo isn't 'tall enough'. But the new Commander is just plain ugly.
Looks like the idiots that designed the avalanche and the aztec must've
hired on at DC. The visibility from the interior is just horrendous. The
pillars are HUGE and block way too much visibility. And the plastic in the
interior is way to cheap/flimsy. Damn shame the stopped making the XJ.

Re: New Commander is UGLY
Actually, I think it's the Mitsubishi guys they hired. After all, the
new GC looks just like an Endeavor and the Commander looks like a
Montero on steroids. Heck, even the liberty looks like an overgrown
Suzuki Vitara. Definite Japanese influence in the designs methinks.
No matter anyway, after they kill the TJ next year and the solid axles
go the way of the I6, there won't be any new Jeeps in my future.
(Unless a diesel TJ is in the works.)
Instead of replacing your XJ, why not find one of those places that will
refurb it? You could drop 15k into any old XJ and make it better than
new. You'd be a lot better off than with anything Jeep currently offers
(TJs excepted).
On another note - that new Ralleye looks like what the XJ should have
morphed into instead of that (*%%$%^ Liberty. (I know, I know, the
Ralleye is really a car, but I'm only talking style here.)
