Much difference between 30's and 31's?
I regeared my TJ to 4.10 and dual True-Traks. I put 30's on the Jeep when I
first bought it, since I had 3.07 gearing and did not want to go any taller and
could not afford to regear for a while. Now I'm debating whether it's worth it
to buy some 31's; my 30's are BFG AT's which now have 12K miles on them, so
they are far from worn out! OTOH, 31's would match the gear ratio better.
I won't be doing any serious buildup on this Jeep for at least a couple years.
It needs to stay family-friendly until I can afford to "retire" it to toy
status, so lifting and putting 33's on there is not going to happen any time
soon.
Is there enough of a difference between 30's and 31's to justify new tires?
WIll i notice the extra clearance and off-road capability? I'd probably go
with BFG MT's.

Hi Jeff,
Not in my book, 30" are still taller than what came with four
cylinder and your gearing.

Re: Much difference between 30's and 31's?
With only 12K on your current BFG AT's, no way would I be looking to
move to 31's. You're only talking about an extra half inch of
clearance (then again, having *no* dent in your oil pan is better than
having a half an inch dent, if you know what I mean hehehe). Maybe if
you could get a buyer lined up for your AT's at a decent price it
would be worth the switch.
