Re: MORE FRIGGEN HORSE POWER! SPAM WARNING!
Well as of right now the engine is out, apart, and at the machine shop.
It is being bored .030 over and the heads are getting resurfaced etc... so that should increase compression. It is getting ported as well and since we are replacing crankshafts camshafts and pistons I am going with the 4.2l budget stroker which should yeild about 260 HP |

Cool, it should rock.
I have a 4.0 with 310K km on it in our Cherokee and a spare 4.2L sitting in my garage.... The stroker idea is enticing. Hi Scooter,
Welcome to RAMJW. Not that these discussions can't happen here, but you really should go check out the yahoo Strokers group, as that is where most of the technical discussions on these build-ups occurs. There is even one member is CNC machining silvolite pistons to reduce the CR of the stroker to a reasonable level. Are you going to deck the block? It is recommended to restore some level of quench compliance, although the benefit of this is still being debated. 4.21 sounds odd? are you going the stroker route, or simply an overbore? -- jeff sc00ter wrote: > Well as of right now the engine is out, apart, and at the machine shop. > It is being bored .030 over and the heads are getting resurfaced etc... > so that should increase compression. Re: MORE FRIGGEN HORSE POWER!
Does it need to get up to 3500 rpm to top the torque or does it pick up
early with a flat top to the curve? I was under the impression the stroker has a low rpm pull like the 4.2L has. They de-stroked the engine when they made the 4.0. If you check out the link to that site there is a graph that shows the
TQ curve as the 4.6L stroker (the one I will actually end up with in as they are boring it :) reaches 2000 rpm it is over 300 lbft of TQ and at 2500 there is about 320 and only bumps a bit higher to like 330 at 3500-4500 then drops to 260 at about 5100 and then EXPLODES LOL :) |

I'm convinced the 4.0 explodes at anything above 3500 :-)
