My engine is still dry, no drips at all and I have the plastic cover
with only the two top rocker bridge nuts holding it on.

I have gone through a couple caps since I have owned mine. They are
available under the 'Help' brand as a generic oil filler cap for less
than five bucks. These are identical to the OEM ones like the tail
lights are identical to generic trailer tail light boxes. AMC wasn't
called 'All Makes Covered' for nothing.....

Re: a lot of extra power from a 258CI inline six CJ7
I have gone through a couple caps since I have owned mine. They are
available under the 'Help' brand as a generic oil filler cap for less
than five bucks. These are identical to the OEM ones like the tail
lights are identical to generic trailer tail light boxes. AMC wasn't
called 'All Makes Covered' for nothing.....

I can promise you'll never get 300 Hp outta that 258, and very it's unlikely
you'll get over 200, especially smog legal. I have a built 304 that pushed
240 hp on the dyno and it's not smog legal.
