Labour Day Weekend Ontario Canada Bush Run Call.
Well, I know it is a late call, but wasn't sure if I could go this year
until a couple days ago so here goes.
We are heading into the same area we normally run, basically between
Bancroft and Bon Echo Park or due north of Kingston Ontario and will be
staying at Whitefish Lake for those that know it. Nice shallow beach,
good fishing, tons of old and newer logging roads to wheel on.
We figure on 'family' type trips with wives and kids along and normally
do a 10 day run in there.
I 'might' be able to get in there earlier in the week, don't know, gonna
try, if I can pull off the two weekends and most of the week I will,
but it looks like I have to be in the city on Wednesday for a doctors
appointment.
Planning on a meet at 10:00 Friday night at the one pump gas store in
Gunter which is off hwy 62 towards Weslemkoon Lake. They usually will
open up for us to top up on gas if needed before hitting the bush. We
will be meeting up with Nick from Montreal then for sure.
I have some detailed directions for anyone coming in at another time,
just email me for them. Have some GPS tags too.
I won't be doing too much wheeling myself, was a passenger in a car
accident and have a messed up neck and am waiting on an MRI before they
can fix it but there are some nice challenging bush climbs close to camp
and I can take some nice photos anyway... I am bringing a canoe and am
going to hang out at the lake mostly.
Hey, I could get the MRI in the next week or so and get a green light
for easy wheeling, who knows, but I am not holding my breath...
Hope to see a bunch of you....

Re: Labour Day Weekend Ontario Canada Bush Run Call.
Got the ok from two doctors 'and' my wife is coming so I don't think I
will get out of line... ;-)
We are also taking the Cherokee this year for the soft ride.
The only reason we are really considering it is because the loggers have
cleared the road into the lake. Our friend got his mini van in there
last year and it used to be a 3 hour run in 2nd low to get in. Now it
is 20 minutes in 2 wheel drive.
We originally were planning on a new location this year, but the road
into there is just too twisty, oh well, maybe come fall I will be in
shape for a run.
I plan on being a beach bum this year, although I do prefer sitting
under a shade tree at the beach...

For sure Bill!
It'll have to be a 'Canadian' beer though eh.

Sounds like you are taking it sufficiently easy. Be good, and have fun too. Wont be
your usual shenannigans, but...you'll still manage I'm sure. = )
Wish I could go play. <sigh>

Re: Labour Day Weekend Ontario Canada Bush Run Call.
Too bad you can't come....
There are some wicked skidder runs/hill climbs through the bush that are
real close to camp where the skidders never used their blade, their 6'
high chained up tires were enough to get 'them' through.
I will have fun taking photos and acting spotter.
We 'really' just like getting out in the bush, having the CJ7 to really
get in there deep AND have fun doing it was my wife's idea in the first
place and 'she' bought the CJ7. I bought/did the mods and 'glass body.
Melody, my wife wanted a vehicle that could go to road's end with no
issues rather than a fight for a trip with an old beater truck.
We only started Jeeping in 98 or so but have been bush running together
since 79 in various trucks and vehicles and foot.
I am sooo glad we ended up with a Jeep!
We were looking at Toyota Land Cruisers, the old ones and some Land
Rovers, but they were all in bad shape for our price range.
Jeep folks have turned out to be a really wicked bunch! 'Fun' wicked...
The group of folks on my RAMJ+W email list that this original post went
out to are too cool. We have met a mess of them and have become really
good friends with a few.
My trip photos could be labeled: What Techies Do For A Vacation!. LOL!
Always have 3 to 7 on a day trip and had 9 Jeeps for last August's run
and 7 the year before. Hoping for 3 or 4 this year because of the short
trip and short notice...
Have 3 confirmed so far, one from Montreal.
