Are the shocks and springs a piece of cake on an 86 Cherokee? I'm in a
high-rust area if that makes a difference. I know I need shocks... the
springs could wait a while but they are rusty and the coils are flaking
apart somewhat.

Also, what are the largest tires and rims I can fit on this puppy?

I live in New England.
My wife's 89 Cherokee needed new shocks.
After breaking off 2 heads on the upper bolts securing the rear shocks to
the vehicle, I decided to leave well enough alone and sold the Jeep instead.
If you decide to try this job, start soaking the bolts a few weeks in
advance with a good penetrating oil, like PD Blaster, then apply generous
amounts of heat from a torch before you even try put a socket to the bolts.
