There is no fuse.
There is a circuit breaker in the headlight switch usually and yes, the
strong lights will kill that. Once popped from heat overload, the
breaker is forever weak, even if you switch back to lower powered bulbs
and you need to replace the switch.
Even just going to halogen lights from stock regular bulbs on the older
ones will over heat the switch.
Believe me, it 'really' is no fun when that switch breaker decides to
blow and you are 50 miles in the middle of nowhere at midnight....
It is easy to add a dedicated fused power line to a stock bosch relay
for the headlights and then to just use the stock wiring to trigger the
relay.
