buying a 4.2 short block-need recomendations
hello everybody! the time has come to either rebuild or replace my
motor. i have a 4.0 head to install so a long block is not needed. i
just need to get a 4.2 short block. i'm thinking about keeping it stock
or close to stock with a cam that will work with the mpi kit. does
anyone have any recomendations for mail-order (online or not) engine
companies or somewhere local to the san francisco bay area? you can also
reply to sfon AT yahoo DOT com thanks!

Re: buying a 4.2 short block-need recomendations
Look for one with 1/2" head bolt/stud holes rather than 7/16" holes.
I should have my rebuilt engine installed within two to three months. I
will have an extra 1984 block (maybe long block) at that time which may
be rebuildable. It is tapped for the 1/2" head bolts since I did the
4.0 head conversion on it. The block has never been bored over but I
did hone it a year and a half ago and installed stock pistons, rings,
and bearings.
