Airbag light on solid
I have a 97 Cherokee and recently the air bag light came on and stays on
solid. My horn has also stopped working. I don't know if the two things
are related because I can't even remember the last time I used the horn. I
was going to pop the front cover off the steering wheel and have a look to
see if any wires came unplugged but I am a little nervous of the air bag.
Is it safe to unplug and plug in the wires in the steering column? Does
anyone have any other suggestions or things to try?

Re: Airbag light on solid
Can't see why it would be a problem if you disconnect the battery first,
which also happens to be the first line in the procedure from my
recollection.

Re: Airbag light on solid
I personally don't know what 'COULD ALLOW INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT OF THE
AIR BAGS' means....
Do you?
Maybe all it takes is a power surge to the computer like can happen when
a battery gets disconnected or connected?

Re: Airbag light on solid
If it's that unstable, I would definitely disconnect it ( it cant hurt me if
I'm outside),
take the thing out, then drive to the dealer and get them to fix it.
