97 xj Ball Joint
Vehicle has pulled to the right since new. It is now at a point where it
was recommended that I put in offset ball joints as there is no castor
adjustment in the original ball joints. Dealership wants 200 for the part,
found them online from moog for +/- 60. I explained to the dealer that I
did not have the "Gold Package" on my XJ,
Does anyone know the differences between them? What does the OEM offset
offer as opposed to the aftermarket items?

Re: 97 xj Ball Joint
Get another opinion.
Find out for sure if the caster setting is really that far off from
factory specs. Normally, playing with the toe will correct a
right-pull. You would normally have be off more than a full degree on
a cross-caster for it to create a pull like that.
Are you sure it isn't just a radial tire pull? Have they tried
rotating the tires to see if that affected it? Have them check the
power steering valving as well.
It is also remotely possible that a wrong/bad front end bushing was
installed at the factory. I've also seen 'new' cars with damaged
A-frames and spindles that pulled. I'd find an alignment specialist
and pay the man for a 2nd opinion on this one before I gave the
stealership any money.
OT: Moog makes great stuff. Go with that if you can.

Re: 97 xj Ball Joint
I'm thinking the pulling is more than likely a tire, brake, wheel
bearing problem.
Is it lifted? Not, usually just replacing the joint will bring her
back in, unless it's a bent axle tube, which is easy to correct.
