42 tooth speedo gear?
Does anyone know where I can get a 42 tooth speedometer gear for the np231
xfer case. I have a 98 TJ SE 2.5L and it came with a 40 tooth gear. I have
since regeared and changed the tire size and my GPS tells me I need a 42.666
tooth gear. I decided to go conservative and get the 42, not the 43 tooth,
but the dealer said the largest he can get is a 41. That's better than 40,
but the 42 would get me within about 2mph at 60mph.
Thanks

Re: 42 tooth speedo gear?
Look in your yellow pages for, speedometer calibration, the shops
sell little reduction gears boxes the fit on the cable, if not the 43
tooth gear. Truckers use them all the time to re-calibrate their
mechanical tachometers.

That would work except the 98 TJ has an electronic speedo.
