1991 Wrangler
Aloha from Hawaii.....
Got a 1991 Wrangler with the manual AX-15 Tranny....recently the
synchro's seem to be going in the tranny. At first it just grinded
going into 3rd, now until things are heated up, getting into 2nd is
very difficult.
Could this be related to an gear oil level problem in the tranmission?
Any way for me to check or top up this level without taking apart the
shift housing?

Since the gear lube has probably never been changed, I would just drain
and refill it with a better quality gear lube like Redline MTL or
Redline MT-90. MT-90 is the one completely meets the AX-15 tranny's
spec but a few that I respect have noted a bit less grinding with the
very slightly thinner MTL.

Check your clutch and bleed it if necessary. You may not be fully
disengageing the clutch.

Check your clutch and bleed it if necessary. You may not be fully
disengageing the clutch.
