As far as that goes, I'm perfectly willing to come to a compromise on
the gay marriage thing. How about this: let marriage be legal under
federal and state laws, yet allow churches, under the general doctrine
of separation of church and state, to have the final say in whom they
will and will not marry. If a couple in a church as a priest or minister
for his blessing and he refuses to give it, that is, as far as I am
concerned, entirely within his rights as a religious leader to do. I
don't care who the people are or the reasons for his refusal.

So if Adam and Steve were to walk into a Baptist church and ask to get
married -- an absolutely ridiculous notion which I'm certain some pair
of twits will try purely for its value as political theater -- the
minister could have the deacons show them the door. Perfectly fine with
me.
