Default Roof Rack Wanted

I'm looking to put a roof rack on my JKU 4 dr., we do a fair amount of camping, and I'd like the dogs to have the entire back while we're traveling and put the gear in the rack. I want it to be able to go on with the soft top on, but I'd also like an easy removal option, since we don't need it every weekend. Any suggestions? I did a search here, and found different brands, but would like 'real life' opinions. I like the look of the Safari Jeep Congo cage, anyone have one of these?

Kongo cage is one of the most flexible options... But is a pain to take off completely... I have two black labs... And just did camp trip north... With some rain... Best deal was a trailer... Though I love the roof rack look.. Trailer is way easier and more flexible.

As for roof racks I prefer the Body Armor with cargo basket. The garvin stealth is nice too.

Tough to find a decent enclosed trailer cheap, but Canadian Tire sells some nice open utility trailers.

I have looked at Canadian tire, And think a Roof rack wuld be better suited, Unless i finish the trailer by adding a roof rack.

The other thing, I dont know if ill be switching to my Softtop next year, I liked having the hard top on more.

Once you get use to having the softtop you won't want the hardtop except for winter.. I can't wait till spring to get that damn hardtop off...

Don't want to do the trailer thing, we have a good size tent, and a dining tent, so they take up a good portion of the sites we go camping, still want room on the site so trailer isn't an option.

Interesting thread. Kids and wife love the soft top. We camped all summer with it. Carry our gear in back. We travel light though. I'm looking for a rack for next summer to carry two tandem kayaks. Spent more time outdoors this year than before we bought the Jeep. Must be a midlife crisis thing... but 'm going with it ... keeps the family together and I can't stop making plans for our next weekend away !!
