Default requesting opinions

I just ordered my very first Jeep Wrangler on Feb 27th. Will arrive in 8-12 weeks. It's a silver 2012 Sahara Unlimited 6 speed. Added options are painted hardtop, heated seats, U-Connect group, 7 spoke polished aluminum wheels.

I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help with.

1. I'm considering putting a remote starter on, but have never done so with a manual transmission, and not sure if it's worth the hastle people have said it was.

2.Also I'm looking at adding a 3"BDS suspension lift, and was wondering about something I've read for quick disconnect sway bars to help with some future off roading I will be doing.

I've never off roaded with a Jeep before, so I'm unfamiliar with what a stock 2012 Sahara is capable of. I have a couple of friends who both have stock Ribicons, and I know that they're more off road capable they what my Sahara is. I'm just hoping to be able to follow where they go. Down the road if I get into the whole off roading, and I'm sure I will, then I'm planning on adding more mods

Any comments or opinions please.

I have the 3 in springs in my Jk. The springs are stiffer than the stock. I'm not sure what comes in the kit as I only used thier springs. You will want front and rear adjustable track bars to center you axles. You will need to re centre your steering wheel, you will need longer shocks or shock extentions if they don't come with the kit. You will want diconnects.

Your Sahara is more than capable and you will have problems keeping up with your friends, the only thing they have over you is lockers, yes they help but you won't be left behind. I too drive a Sahara.

With the extras and niceties you spent money on you almost could have bought a Rubicon.

Thanks for your imput. I don't have a lot of offroading experience, but we all have to start somewhere.
What mods do you suggest for starting out? As mentioned I think a suspension lift and disconnects to start, or should I get something else first?

The reason I went with the Sahara is because of a special promo that was offered to me,I was able to get over 5K off sticker price of the Sahara, this made a significant difference from the Rubicon's price tag. So with the money saved I can get some mods done.

What did you do for your disconnects?

Not to make this about Sahara vs Rubi. but why spend the extra money on a Rubi if you going to modify it anyway.

Alot depend on your budget. On my first JK I started off with a spacer lift and added to it as I went along . If i had to do all again ..... oh wait I did when I bought my second Jk for the wife... I would do springs 3 to 3 1/2 in. adjustable front and rear track bars and shock extentions or new shocks depending on budget.

I personally went with BDS springs and trackbars, for diconnects JKS, shocks I'm using Rough Contry that came with the original spacer lift.

I had a custom radius arms built for the front. Here's some pics.

Firstly, nice JEEP and congrats!!
I have the same set-up as you Sahara with a 6 speed. Got the factory installed starter, and I've only used it once so far.
Haven't done any mods, but that's why I\m on this site.
