Mopar Half Doors

Mopar Half Doors
So my question is, how do I go about getting the factory half doors for my Jeep?
I've got an '07 Unlimited w/ full doors. When I bought it, I fully intended to buy the half doors for it down the road, and my dealer told me that I could do that.
I've been checking the Mopar accessories catalogs at the dealer here and there. The Spring 2008 catalog is out now and it still doesn't list the half doors... actually it doesn't list the half doors for any models, so this guy in the shop tells me that they're no longer available b/c of road safety rules. Is this true?
Did I miss out by not getting the half doors when I bought my Jeep?

Re: Mopar Half Doors
Hmm. Road Safety, I don't buy that one....wonder if this person that told you that is aware the doors come off. :) Also, pretty sure even today the 2011's can be ordered with half doors. Try a different dealer, you may also try aftermarket suppliers, Just Jeeps, National 4WD, or Quardratec.

Re: Mopar Half Doors
Depends where you are, most provinces have bylaws against removing the factory doors on your vehicle now. BC's bylaw specifically mentions all Jeeps, with the only exception being the CJ's because they were the only ones to come from factory with no doors. That's the key point, if your vehicle came from factory you cannot remove the doors anymore. Also the other part for some Jeeps is that the mirror is attached to the door frame. Some aftermarket companies make a replacement to go on the body but it's still the issue of did it come from factory that way. Check each provinces highway act for door removal and you'll find it fairly easily.
If you can find a set of half/ tube doors that have a Canadian CSA/ DOT ( not US DOT) approval you can fight it out after you get a ticket.
I think there are 2 aftermarket companies that are trying to get north american DOT approval for half doors right now since our fellow Jeeper's in the states are starting to go through this to.
