Jeep Rust - Covered by Warranty?

Jeep Rust - Covered by Warranty?
I'm looking at this page here and it mentions a 5 year warranty on rust. Well my new Jeep (2007) has some rust on the door hinges. Is this part of what's covered? I can snap pics if it will help.

yea I have found some rust under the bolts on the windshield and hood of my new JK. Its less than 2 years old, should not be rusting, I wanted the aluminum bolts replaced as well as they are all corroded, and the dealer wouldnt do it. Makes me angry!

I am sure there going to try and con you by saying we cover interior rust and unfortunately for you what you have is exterior rust. Don't take their crap, make noise and lots of it, speak to the big cheese at the dealership and talk to him with his door wide open so any new customers can hear your complaint, If all this doesn't raise some satisfaction then I'd call Chrysler customer service and advise them of the problem..normally you do get action from them.. .

Re: Jeep Rust - Covered by Warranty?
the rust protection only warranties if the rust creates a hole as told by the dealer, but the corroded hinges are problem all their own, my 08 unlimited just had the hinges redone on it about 9mnths ago ,when i took it to the dealer i had no problem at all getting them repainted, they told me the corrosion is caused by the hinges being aluminum and the reaction from the disimiliar metals, poor design. They took it the next day and i had it back at the end of the day. A Detonator yellow jeep with canary yellow hinges...WTF... they screwed up the color, most people dont notice but most importantly I do, i thought it was just because they were freshly painted but months later they are still brighter than the rest of the jeep. just today though i noticed the upper hinge on the driver side passenger door is starting to flake the paint off again, think it might be time the bedline them and fix it for good.

I'm seeing this too on my 08, spoke to my dealer and he noted the rust for the same reason as Detonatorunlimited. I was told no problem I'm within the warranty period, they will fix them, just need to set up a time. Ok. I just question in my mind how well the removal and color match will really be.
I've seen pictures of the hinges bedlined....looks really good, pending the color of the Jeep. Detonator Yellow will look awesome, I'd say OEM. For me Resscue Green....Ida' know need to see it done before I consider. As for the design, what were they thinkng....aluminum on a few hinges would help with weight?

Re: Jeep Rust - Covered by Warranty?
Thanks guys. I sent an email to the dealership to make an appointment to come in so they can look at it. I have a feeling they will try to tell me that I'm past the 3 years (it is an '07) however it only has 36K on it (much less than the 60K limit of the warranty).
That and I JUST bought it a couple of weeks ago. Can't believe I never noticed earlier (ie before I bought it) but that's life.
