Default DuraTrac tires for 2dr JK

Looking to put duratracs on my JK have 17in wheels wondering which is best for my ride the lt245/ 75 /17 or the 265/ 70 /17. Live in NS and travel to/ from work 3hours per day.

You will get better fuel economy and a slightly smoother ride with the 245's due to the narrower tyre and higher sidewall.

The 265 will give you a slightly stiffer ride and better handling.

I can't believe I just wrote that, if you bought the jeep for it's fuel economy or handling you were somewhat misguided.

I'm running on 16' but I have 245/75 and like them very much.

I looked at the GY DT, but decided on Mickey Thompson ATZ 33 X 11.5 X 17, with a wheel that had 4.75" back spacing.

I pound the pavement 120KMs per day round trip...from my original OEM Deauler AT I think I lost maybe 2 MPG....90% high way driving Auto, 3:73's, Pro Cal module, and 2" lift....call it 20MPG average. Oh, and easy on the skinny pedal.

I prefer the wider stance look. Just remember too wide and you will need wheel spacers or a after market wheel to help clear the new shoes from any rubbing.

Good luck, not a easy choice...I agonized over the choices for months!! Ask lots of questions, and check out as may jeeps as you can with various tires

The nice thing about the Duratracs is that it is one of few tires that are winter rated so you won't need another set of tires for winter. Regular A/T are not a good winter choice.
