WJ V8 4.7 Heater core help and advice
Hey Guys, this is my first post and as a new Jeep owner I am really looking forward to learning the ins and outs of the Jeep world. I just picked up a 2000 Grand Cherokee Limited, there is a slight smell of coolant when the heat is on and the drivers side window gets fogged up from time to time. To my knowledge I am guessing this is a heater core issue and from what I've seen the whole dash has to come out to replace it. I am asking you guys for a refurral to somebody that can fix this for me at a cheaper price than the approx $1000 at the dealer. Thank you in advance!

No replies eh.... Well since I'm new to the scene maybe you guys can help me out with another forum or something. I came from the world of sport compacts and I know from being on many forums there that some are not uses as often as others. Is there another popular one for us Canadians in the Toronto area?!

Hey Ranger,
I 'm not one of the gurus here so I can't help at all..The only thing I can say is, traffic on this site has it's slow and fast response times. I had to have my dash disassembled in FL of all places. Blend doors went in Feb, hot there, cold here AND no tools or place to work there. I could drive down there with 4-60 AC but was -20 here sooooo.........

Re: WJ V8 4.7 Heater core help and advice
yeah i just dont have a recommendation on a shop out in Ontario...
its one of those annoying jobs, the only way to save on this repair is to do as much of the labor yourself as possible...
http://www.wjjeeps.com/hvac_sub_assembly.htm
here are step by step instructions on disassembling the dash in the first few links...
best thing to do is disassemble in a warm garage if possible, plastics are less likely to snap when their warm (i've had a few console parts break on my WJ cause they were handled while they were practically frozen)
but the more you can get disassembled the less a shop would have to disassemble, the less labour your bill is going to have. (8 hours of Labour approx)
