WJ - Block Heater Blow Out
Have a 2002 Jeep WJ. Recently had the Transmission rebuilt and brought it back to the shop for some warranty work on it. When they finished the work they took it for a test drive on the highway, went to pass one car, and blew the Block heater off the engine block. Has anyone ever heard of this hapening before? wspecially with no warning.....my engine ran solid, never a drop of coolant or oil leaking....all of a sudden it blows the block heater off??...wierd!!!
Any input would be great, have almost 10g's into the tranny and drivetrain already, and now I have stuff blowing off while driving.
Thanks

Re: WJ - Block Heater Blow Out
Yes, sadly this is common. If you look at a block heater, the tangs that hold it in place are rather small, and usually corrosion resistant for the first few years. I am a mechanic, replaced lots of them. It is unlikely that the shop you had repair it, went anywhere near it. Sounds like extremely bad timing, on your JEEP's part.
