Hey guys, I'm new to the site, just wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction. The interior lights in my '04WJ LTD will not turn off when the doors close. The only way to get them to turn off is to completely turn down the brightness on the dash and guage illumination.
Also i noticed that my door locks don't work manually(not sure if they work with the remote yet) and my windows won't roll down anymore. Any info on what would cause this and how to fix this or what to look for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

Start at the simplest place, start checking fuses under the dash then relays under the hood. Do you have the auto headlights?, sometimes the contacts will wear out and the lights will either stay on or won't turn on at all, but that wouldn't affect your door locks and windows. Sounds like a lack of power to me.

QUICK UPDATE:

Power locks work with the remote and they also work from the passenger door control, Power windows still don't work. I fiddled with the switches on the liftgate lastnight, interior lights now stay off, but won't turn on when the doors open, just have to turn them on manually. I will check the fuses later tonight when i get off work. How do i know if i have a bad relay, what do i look for?

 

Weird I just had the same thing happen to my 04 Limited today .. Was it cold where you are ? I am not having the window problems or door problems. I will try the contacts like you have tonight. It is -25 where I am ..

 

the day it happened, it was starting to get cold, about -20 i guess, can't remember exactly. all my interior lights work now except for when the driver's doors gets opened... i found a post on a different forum that may lead me to the problem... here's the link...Help! This a fantastic site. I just tried the fuse in the engine compartment. Pulled it out lights went off .. put it back in .. pressed auto locks on and off . works perfect now..

Hey Yerslo , I went on the web to find out more about the fuses and I came across alot of people complaining about the same problem. It seems to be a problem with the wiring in the driver door. They all said if you pull back the rubber sleave in the door jam you will be guarenteed to find a broken wire. Well low and behold I pulled it back and the orange and white wire is snapped in half .. They are very brittle. If you can fix it yourself you will save a bundle .. The garage supposedly charges you in the range of 4-5 hundred bucks .. Hope this helps.

yeah, sorry... i got the problem fixed, it was the wires in the door, 2 as a matter of fact, I just forgot to post it here on the forum before i jumped on the plane to Mexico to get out of the cold. Thanks for all the help everyone!!! Much Appreciated!!!
