Canada Blower Resistor

Hi Guys and Gals,

I need a blower motor resistor for my 89 Cherokee LTD. I am confused with the issue of whether or not I have AC. As far as I know. the jeep came with factory AC. But, if by chance the AC was dealer installed it seems that I need a different resistor. To make a long story short, is there a different resistor for a jeep that has no AC and one that has AC from the factory or dealer intstalled?

Thanks for the incoming info.

Well, I had to change mine on my 92 and I went to three places to ask for prices. None of them asked me if I had A/C or not. I changed it 2 months ago and everything is still working.

P.S.: I have A/C (although needs to be charged)

If you know some, you could easily see if you have A/C or not just by looking at the engine bay. (post a picture of it for us to see if you want) Unless you can get the dealer to give you your factory sheet of all the options that came with your Jeep.

Hope this helps!! :)

Hey Bimmer,

Thanks for the input. I know that I do have AC. My issue was that I was asked if I had AC or not by the parts guys, after market or dealer. If I did not have AC the resistor would cost about $40.00 bucks. If I do have AC it would cost $15.00 bucks. As far as I know there is no difference between the resistors. I changed my blower once before with parts from an auto wrecker and bought a resistor from Part Source with no issues until now. I was just looking to see if someone could tell me if the resistors were the same no matter what.

Thank you, 8e9heep

The resistor is for the BLOWER motor nothing to do with weather you have a/c (compressor) mounted on your vehicle or not. I doubt very much that anyone is going to put on an a/c after it left the factor. $15. sounds about the price I paid for a new one for my 89 xj. Too bad your not close I have the one from my old xj b/4 I scraped it.
