1998 cherokee E brake holds the vehicle in place but the handle does not stay engaged
Hello,
Recently my E brake has ceased to hold in place when i engage it. It makes the clicking sounds as you pull up but when you let it go it simply falls completely into the disengaged position. If I hold the handle up on my own in neutral it will keep the jeep in place no problem, there just seems to be an issue with the lever/handle itself. How can I fix this?

It sounds like the ratchet gear or pawl has worn. Depending on your fabrication or repair skills you might be able to repair the existing one, if not it will have to be replaced. Either way you will have to remove it from the vehicle.
