1997 cherokee shifter spring

Default 1997 cherokee shifter spring

Does any one sell a replacement spring for the 4wheel shifter handle.went to put jeep in 4wheel heard spring pop now shifter has no tension now it wont stay in 4high its a 97

Which spring do you mean? The t/case is held into its various shift positions by a detent spring and ball inside the case, but is accesable from outside, I've never seen one break. From your initial description it sounds more likely that the linkage popped off somewhere.

the spring in question is the one located directly on the shlfter lever itself the handle that you pull to go in to 4low or 4high.

That spring is just to keep the lever in the appropriate side of the gate and should have no effect on the actual operation of the t/case. Don't know where you could find one other than the dealer.

thanks for help found the real problem with the shifter jumping out of 4 high the friggen linkage under the jeep was not installed properly..
