Tires, Rims, Lift 2009 unlimited
Hi everyone, looking for help advice and maybe parts.
I have a 2009 Wrangler unlimited factory 100,000 km.
Looking to lift and replace rims and tires as finances permit.
Wife vehicle (kids) no off road at this time, possible in the future.
Original tires are done so I need to get through the winter.
I'm leaning towards lifting 2.5" - 3" now and replacing one of the old tires with brand new to pair up with the spare, then replace two others with used.
In the spring / future ? replace all with new rims/rubber (the right way).
Question
One: What lift should I use, keeping in mind my wife has a bad back so I don't want to stiffen the ride?
Two: Best place for new original rubber ? and or good used rubber ?
Three: Best Tires for the lifted set up, keeping in mind i want to keep the tire noise to a minimum.
PS: any suggestions / comments would be appreciated.
Thanks RT

Re: Tires, Rims, Lift 2009 unlimited
So what is the budget for the lift?
If its not going to hit the dirt and want to keep a factory-esque ride good old fashioned budget boost. Most cheaper lifts your going to lose ride quality if your replacing the springs, unless you shell out a bit of coin for quality springs.
Maybe a Rock Krawler Stock Mod lift kit or the Rock Krawler Max Travel. I run RK and I can vouch for the ride quality. Its like a slinky. Keep in mind though, when they advertise 2.5" or 3.5" it is a VERY healthy 2.5 or 3.5.
Old Man Emu has some gear that im told rides extremely well but i cant say i have first hand experience with it.
I have also heard alot of good things about the TeraFlex coil lift kits.
And no noise but some capability if you need it.. an all-terrain tire, I ran BFG A/Ts on my YJ forever and they worked fine. ProComp A/Ts arent bad. Hell I have Nitto Trail Grapplers on my rig and i dont find the noise bad at all for a half way gnarly tire.
And wheels i always say go with a cheaper steel or alloy wheel.. if you do decide to take it in the woods and smash a nice wheel off of a rock or tree you will be rotted.. but if they only cost you 90 or 100 bucks a piece, who cares. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Tires, Rims, Lift 2009 unlimited
Thanks
I priced out a basic set up with just jeeps
$1000.00 for lift
$3000.00 for Alloy rims and rubber
I am thinking of doing the lift and buying used factory tires to get me through the winter
I have two concerns
#1 - Ride can not get rougher
#2 - DEATH WOBBLE (just heard of this recently)
Thanks for the help

Re: Tires, Rims, Lift 2009 unlimited
$3000 for rims and tires.. Wow !!! Better off with steel rims even offset are much low priced and a good set of tires... still won't run u that high...
$1000 for lift installed maybe
On the lift u can change the shock that come with it to adjustables then you can pretty well control the ride.
Have the lift installed where u buy it and that way you'll have a guarantee if there is a problem down the road.
I'd shop around - don't grab the first quote... and do look towards offset STEEL rims instead...
My lift was done a few yrs ago, bot it at Natn'l4wd but put it on myself with a friend (bad mistake-shud have had it done at National).
