YJ CJ orTJ ????

Re: YJ CJ orTJ ????
Yo! Poker
I would choose the TJ but it will be easier with the YJ, less electronics and easier to beef the front spring,
But a TJ Rubicon which as a 44 front and rear would be more fun, anyway You will have to change in both, the transmission, transfer case and drive shafts and rad.
Good luck

Hey tracklock
and/or anyone else who can shed light on this
Does the TJ not have front leaf springs? The electrnics don't worry me much I will most likely strip it of its electronics anyway. From what I read in other places the TJ 5spd standard is supposed to be a healthy Borg Warner and would hold up to a mild V-8. As for the drive shaft not a problem, I work in a machine shop to make a drive shaft is nothing.A buddy of mine owns a rad shop and usually get smokin god deals.

Hey Guys
I've been doing more reading here, and it seems like alot of people don't recomend going V-8. I read some saying not worth the amount of work going into it. Several mentions that 2.5L 4cyl is all you need.
Are there guys here that have done V-8 swaps in the TJ, YJ, or CJ models.
I can see the 2.5L doing ok on feul. But power??
I haven't had anything less than a V-8 power for at least 10yrs.
03 GMC 2500HD 6.0L
04 Chevy Sub 5.3L
95 Chevy Sub 5.7L
95 Chevy Caprice 9C1 5.7L LT1
91 Chevy Caprice 5.0L
79 Chevy p/u 5.0L
I'm sure you get the picture, and they have all been tweeked and tuned for more jam and generally more feul milage.

Yo! Poker,
TJ have springs on All four,
And U forgot the JK wich U can find a conversion for a Hemi.
We don't know what will be the use of the jeep?
As for a V8 conversion, if U have the cash for it I'm all for it, more power more torque.
Your first place or a good resources

and for JK http://www.aev-conversions.com/

Hey tracklock
The jeep would be a DD/play in snow/play in mud and be Quick of the line. It won't be a typical DD, because I have the se of a company P/U for all my personal use if I want. But I'm the kind of guy that needs to have his own persnol wheels regardless.

Re: YJ CJ orTJ ????
Don't forget though those D44's under the JK's aren't REAL D44's! They would not hold up to the torque and power of a V8 especially with 37's. I have friends that have destroyed them with 37's and the stock V6. So if your doing V8 conversion on any JEEP don't forget your going to have to figure in the cost of better axles as well. I hope you've got some really deep pockets.

Re: YJ CJ orTJ ????
I have a JK Rubi right now and love it , but I have had one of each before(CJ,YJ,TJ) and I really liked the TJ's lots of toys for them and kits to do what ever you want , as most of them do anyway . You should be able to find one for a decent price and just build it the way you want . What ever you choose it will be what you make it . My 2 cents .......

Re: YJ CJ orTJ ????
Thanks to everyone who has put in some input to my question. The hunt for a jeep will start, all I need to do is sell my 03GMC 2500HD and the project will start.
I think I have decided on a 305 from an early 90's Caprice, change it to carberation. The tranny will be decided once I have a jeep. A friend of mine has D44s, all I need to do is narrow them up and that I can do. So far it doesn't sound to crazy.
