Advice on Pre-Owned Jeep
Greatings All,
Looking for some advice as I look for my second Jeep. May things to consider...new JK, used JK, used TJ. There are things I love about both, and pros and cons on new and used.
I do fancy the TJ, and the ideal used is a 2006, one owner, off-lease, never off-roaded, 45 to 65,000 KMs. I've seen them on auto trader, and paid them a look up close.
My question is a TJ that is 4 or 5 years old having on 45kms on it was either used as a week-ender ride (toy) or by someone who really didnt drive that much.
Low KMs are great, however if a vehical is not driven much/on a regular basis do oil seals not tend to dry out if not 'wet'? Everything on the Jeep will be 5 years old.
My use for the Jeep is DD, with light trail riding not a rock crawler.
Any advice what to watch out for, consider ect...
Some of these used TJs (In the Toronto area) are 15,000 price range, 45,000KMs are are in great shape. (not to mention easier on the pocket book vs a newer JK)
Thanks for reading my post.

Re: Advice on Pre-Owned Jeep
I almost bought a new JK, but finally decided that I really liked the look of the TJ much better. I know, decisions shouldn't be based on looks alone, so there are a few other things I liked about the TJ, such as the inline 4.0 6 cyl rather than the newer V6. The overall dimensions of the TJ are more to my liking, especially the narrower width. The TJ isn't loaded down with electronic gobbly gook devices that down the road will most likely keep you in the shop rather than on the road. Having driven YJ/TJ/JK I can honestly say I really do prefer the TJ (2 dr) by a long shot.
